TOPIC 6 :
TAKING LECTURE NOTES
The biggest lie I tell myself is I don't need to write that note down in notes, I'll remember it.
Lecturer Normala highlight one thing that we need to know on how to take a notes. You must know
" Why, What and How " I need to write a note.
Why :
- I need to listen.
- Have an accurate record.
- Have a better organize information.
- Make repetition on material.
To understand what we learn in every classes, so don't just remeber it.
What :
- Make a headings
( Include main points during lecturer )
- Make details
( Any facts,example, definition that repeated by lecturer )
- When having a dicussion in class.
( Note are the question lecturer asked WHILE the answer is the summary made by lecturer. )
How :
- Be prepare on taking notes
( Read before start class , Imagine the backgrounds of topic that you will learn , An idea will pop out)
- Organise our notes as it will make you easier to revise it.
( Know what is key words )
- Get ready with writting tools
( Sitting infront of the class, Find motivated friends )
- Review a note before start class.
Before we continue this topic, I want to share a story that told by my lecturer. It is a story about difference between students in Malaysia and outside of the Malaysia like England.
The education system practiced in malaysia is only aimed at increasing the quantity of students who excel in examinations but the educational system abroad is created aimed at producing quality students not only excel in learning but also in self-esteem.
- Become an active listener
( Decide what to listen, ready physical and mental , have an open mind, control emotional response, listen carefully the highlight point and write it down, ask and answer lecturer question, check note with other classmate and ask their explanation if there are different. )
- Using The Cornell note Taking Method.
